Close friends, warm flowers, worshipful singing, and twinkling lights–Nick and Abby’s winter wedding at Camelot Manor was made warm by their love for each other and the love from other’s. Kindness and patience poured from every person throughout the day. When I arrived that morning, I met Nick on the front porch of the house. He was thoughtfully and peacefully writing Abby a letter before the day began. I was struck by the sense of calm he expressed on a day when most would be full of nerves. After sneaking away upstairs to see Abby, I knew it wasn’t just Nick who was at peace on this perfect, winter day. Giggling with friends and eyes full of excitement, Abby seemed full of joyful anticipation to soon say, “I do.” This joy-inspired peace spoke to the goodness of their coming marriage commitment. Genuine friendship and adoration was written on each of their smiles.
The beauty of marriage wasn’t just expressed by Abby and Nick. Lush flower arrangements with golden accents, the 24 beautiful faces of their bridal party, even the warm, tasteful pasta at the reception were inviting and welcoming. While the perfect weather and stunning decorations made for a beautiful day, I believe the welcoming spirit of Abby and Nick helped everyone feel at home.
A few moments I won’t forget include the time of worship during their ceremony, and the first dances. The apostle Paul tells us the mystery of marriage is like Christ and His church-a beautiful display of the gospel. It was only fitting that during the ceremony, everyone joined in song while Abby’s brother Ben led, “He Will Hold Me Fast.” Watching the bride, groom, parents, and others be moved to tears for their love for Christ and what He has done was very moving. Similarly, as I watched Nick and his mom during their first dance, I was again moved to tears. As she sang to Nick, her words and expressions showed a deep love for her son, and a bittersweet feeling to watch him grow. But rather than stopping at the feeling of “he’s growing up” the song led to expressions of joy for how God provided him with a perfect wife. Nick’s mom then took Abby’s hand and placed it in Nick’s for them to finish the dance together. It was a humbling, gracious moment.
I could continue about all the beautiful moments, stories, laughter and tears that filled the day. But as you look through a few images from their day, I pray you sense the tenderness, peace, and thanksgiving of Abby and Nick’s wonderful wedding.
Abby and Nick, thank you for inviting me into such a magical moment! I loved celebrating with you and am excited to see how your lives grow together as the new Mr. and Mrs. Manuel.
