A summer shower, a house filled with warmth, and a family snickering with giddy laughter–this is what I found when I arrived to Avvi’s family home. I was greeted with welcoming hugs and warm food, every beautiful detail arranged by Avvi’s sister Rebecca. It was obvious that this day would be full of sincerity, genuine connection, and celebration.
Every moment of the day was intentional, from literal head to toe. The penny in Avvi’s shoe is from her grandmother and has been worn in each wedding shoe by the women of her family for generations. Also, you’ll notice an image of the three most important dresses in her life: a phrase coined by Avvi’s mother. Her handmade baptism dress, a family heirloom, her first communion dress, and her wedding dress. These pieces and more made Avvi and John’s wedding day rich with tradition.
As the rain stopped, very close family and friends gathered under the Wysteria Arbor at Cheekwood Gardens. There, John and Avvi vowed to love and treasure each other for their entire lives. As the story goes, John knew he would marry Avvi from the moment he first laid eyes on her. On their second date, he toasted to “their last second date.” His confidence was not in vain.
After meeting Avvi, John quickly bought her engagement ring, which was not as easy of a task as it sounds. Since a child, Avvi dreamed of a blue sapphire ring, and because of the pandemic, there wasn’t much gem mining occurring. John tracked down Shane & Co.’s owner who had just passed on the exact stone John needed. He reached out and found the flawless stone in Paris. It was meant to be! The perfect rings for the perfect couple, engraved with the biblical word “Mizpah” which means “watchtower.”
I could continue recounting this real-life fairytale, but I would probably need to write a book to share the entire story. May these images speak to the beauty, elegance, commitment, and absolute treasure Avvi and John’s wedding day was.
We couldn’t miss chance to document mama’s shoes. This whole family is amazing!
I adore this image sequence and the absolute care John has for his bride.
Avvi and her sister, Becca, who excellently planned and coordinated this magnificent wedding day.
Avvi and John, thank you for letting me share your memorable day with you. I am honored that I was able to watch you make the beautiful commitment of marriage. I cannot wait to witness how God continues to use you as Mr. and Mrs. Springs. Cheers to your happily ever after.
